There’s a big difference between a vendor and an agency partner. It’s like staying afloat on a dinghy versus traveling on a fully staffed cruise ship steered by a captain. It goes without saying — one will take you farther with much less turbulence.

The last thing we at PRPL want is to be limited to vendordom. Veeendooor — might as well say “he who must not be named.” But what this designation conveys is arguably worse: a vendor is a one-and-done, transactional relationship. It’s about deliverables, price, and deadlines, rather than relationships, problem solving, and amazing work.That’s why you won’t find “account managers” here. Clients don’t need to be managed, and we’d prefer to work with those who manage themselves, anyway. We do make sure that our partnerships are mutually beneficial, and sure, that can include defining timelines and deadlines. But agencies should really be there to help, propel, and become an indispensable extension of their partners’ teams.
