It’s been an incredible journey since Jenn Hunter joined us, bringing her unique blend of creativity and analytical prowess to the team. As PRPL’s Content/IA Strategist, Jenn excels at uncovering hidden gems of knowledge, piecing together complex puzzles, and driving projects to successful completion. Her dedication and innovative approaches have not only enriched our projects but also inspired those around her. To celebrate her outstanding contributions, we sat down with Jenn to learn more about what fuels her passion, her favorite moments at PRPL, and the many facets of her vibrant personality.

1. What are some of your favorite aspects of your role?

I love the puzzle-like nature of my projects, where every piece is crucial to the grand design. I thoroughly enjoy diving deep with stakeholders to uncover those hidden gems of knowledge, asking insightful questions that help them rediscover their core identity and identify potential areas for growth. By analyzing data and traffic patterns, I gain a deeper understanding of user needs and behaviors, which informs my approach to content organization and information architecture. I would say my favorite moment is when everything comes together, and we hear that collective "whoa" as the puzzle pieces fall into place, sparking a surge of collaboration and excitement around the project. Ultimately, I also take immense pride in the finished product and the sense of accomplishment that comes with bringing a complex vision to life.

2. What is one of your favorite hobbies, and what draws you to it?

I have a profound affection for writing, and what draws me to it is the ability to bring to life the thrilling plots that normally come from my dreams. As I sit down with pen and paper, I'm transported to a world of limitless possibility, where characters and storylines converge in a swirl of creativity. I find myself lost in the process of crafting a narrative that's both personal and universal, as I strive to capture the essence of those vivid dreams and bring them into the waking world.

My other hobbies include: traveling, swimming, paddle boarding, football (GO NOLES!), shows (concerts and Broadway), game nights, craft beer, disc golf, camping and performing in community theatre!

3. What was one of your favorite PRPL projects and why?

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Visit Orlando, which presented its own set of unique challenges that tested my ability to orchestrate complex logistics and synchronize multiple moving parts. The intricate dance of diverse microsites, initiatives, and guidelines demanded a meticulous approach, requiring me to craft a comprehensive strategy that harmonized with the organization's overall vision and goals. Working alongside a talented and dedicated team, we were able to leverage their expertise and build strong relationships, which enabled us to collaborate seamlessly and drive results. From the kickoff, the team's collective passion for the project was palpable, and their commitment to excellence inspired me to push the boundaries of what was possible. By combining our strengths and expertise, we were able to mitigate risk, optimize efficiency, and produce a deliverable that exceeded expectations and showcased the city's vibrant tourism landscape.

4. What types of books or movies do you enjoy?

I’m a pretty eclectic connoisseur of cinematic and literary works, as long as it has gripping, immersive storytelling. While I appreciate a broad range of genres, my affinity lies in period pieces that skillfully transport audiences to bygone eras, as well as psychological thrillers that weave in complex narratives with unexpected twists and turns (which is my typical writing style). Show-wise, I do struggle with randomly quoting “The Office” on a continual basis.

5. What tools or resources do you find indispensable in your daily work?

For tools, absolutely Excel, Figma and ClickUp! For resources, I research to stay updated on the most recent industry trends, attend learning lunches and seminars, brainstorm with my colleagues, and pull from my collective career experience in pushing the envelope with each new project.

6. What is the most rewarding aspect of working at PRPL?

The most rewarding aspect of working at PRPL is undoubtedly the opportunity to collaborate with and be inspired by the brilliant minds and exceptional talent that surround me, as I have the privilege of learning from their vast expertise and innovative approaches, which not only challenges my own thinking but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared passion for our work.

7. What's your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?

As a remote worker, the biggest way to unwind is ultimately detaching from the computer screen and getting out of the house, whether it be in enjoying nature, socializing with friends and family, watching my husband DJ a show, playing with my dogs or attending a Chamber of Commerce event.

8. How do you approach problem-solving when faced with a difficult challenge?

I practice a structured approach by collecting and comparing data, gathering insights from external stakeholders and the internal team and considering documented factors along the way, so I’m able to get to the root cause of the issue. This holistic approach helps to identify the underlying factors driving the problem, rather than just treating symptoms. By taking a data-driven and collaborative approach, I’m more likely to develop a well-informed solution that addresses the root cause, rather than just patching over the current issue. I tend to get into a “zone” that’s difficult to break away from until I have solidified a solution.

9. What aspects, habits, or personality traits do you believe contribute to your success in your role?

I’m an organizational nut by nature; always collecting, correlating and making sense of complex data and how it relates to each other and maps to the big picture. When I was around 12, I used to go around and interview my grandparents (or anyone much older) and ask them what they wish they knew at my age or what they would’ve done different. One said, “I would’ve slowed down and taken my time to smell the roses.”, while the other said, “Do twice as much and twice as fast! I would’ve done so much more”. I remember getting so frustrated in my little journal that the data didn’t match! I suppose I’ve always had that intrinsic desire to find the “patterns” of things to reveal some secret truth that would make the world more sensical or rational. Always the little analyst, I suppose.

10. What's one thing about you that might surprise people?

That’s a tough one. Perhaps that I rap at spoken word night, or am currently writing a psychological thriller novel, or am a Chamber of Commerce ambassador, or co-own a silent disco company, or that I’m the 21st test tube baby ever born. I’m a combination of many little oddities and passions.
