Our First Otronicon
It’s not every day you’re surrounded by medical robots, military simulators, and 3D TVs (sporting NBA 2K14, nonetheless). But this past week, we spent not one, but four days among some of the world’s most impressive technology at Orlando Science Center’s Otronicon.
PRPL Labs posted up in its own exhibit, featuring Google Glass demos and our brand new photobooth app, Gifn. Families, gamers, and fellow nerds flowed in and out of the booth, coming eager to test out the highly-hyped wearable tech and the intriguing GIF-making machine.
For the Google Glass demonstration, visitors could experience the interface from a first-person perspective. They had the option to choose from any of the menu's capabilities, from taking an instant photo to translating any sign in sight. We were most impressed with the young children's intuition with the device and natural ability to voice the commands. They're the future, folks. Then there was Gifn, our latest product that no one had heard of, but everyone loved. The digital photobooth's bright ringlight drew them in, and their celebrity status on the big screen kept them there. Looks like they had fun.As our first year sponsoring and exhibiting at Otronicon, we enjoyed every bit. It was really special to be posted up next to Sony and ESPN, with our friends from Florida Hospital nearby, and we feel fortunate to have some snazzy toys to show off, ourselves.
Thanks for having us, OSC! See you next year.
